Epidemiology

• Most commonly seen in elderly females
• Associated with: Pulmonary fibrosis/ bronchiectasis

Physiology

• Benign tumor of neuroendocrine cell origin in lung
• Occasionally metastasize

Pathology

• Neuroendocrine cells (may represent small carcinoid tumors, but are benign)
• Immunohistochemical stains: argyrophilic/ positive for neuron-specific enolase

Diagnosis

• CXR/Chest CT Pattern: usually not detectable on CXR alone
