Pulmonary Tumorlet
Epidemiology
- Most commonly seen in elderly females
- Associated with: Pulmonary fibrosis/ bronchiectasis
Physiology
- Benign tumor of neuroendocrine cell origin in lung
- Occasionally metastasize
Pathology
- Neuroendocrine cells (may represent small carcinoid tumors, but are benign)
- Immunohistochemical stains: argyrophilic/ positive for neuron-specific enolase
Diagnosis
- CXR/Chest CT Pattern: usually not detectable on CXR alone

- Symptoms/signs (usually not clinically significant and most are diagnosed at autopsy or incidentally in surgical specimens):
