Physiology

• Inspissated mucus which accumulates within bronchus distal to point of obliteration (distal lung parenchyma is hyperinflated)

Diagnosis

• CXR/Chest CT Pattern: oval, smooth, sharply-defined nodule
  • Location: strong predilection for apical-posterior bronchus of LUL
  • Calcification: absent
  • Absence of cavitation
