Chondrosarcoma
Physiology
- Malignant Tracheal Tumor
- Hematogenous dissemination to lungs (occasionally direct extension)
Diagnosis
- CXR/Chest CT Pattern: 3 mm-6 cm (of various size) round, sharply-defined nodules with lower-lobe predilection
- Chondrosarcoma: may show calcification
- Usually absent hilar/ mediastinal nodes
Clinical Presentations
- Tracheal Chondrosarcoma
- Tracheal Obstruction (see [[Obstructive Lung Disease]])
- Treatment: surgical tracheal resection with adjuvant XRT
- Surgery is contraindicated in cases with extensive airway involvement, mediastinal invasion, or metastases
- Metastases to Lungs
