Contraindications
- Hepatic Encephalopathy (see Hepatic Encephalopathy, Hepatic Encephalopathy): TIPSS may worsen hepatic encephalopathy
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) (see Congestive Heart Failure, Congestive Heart Failure): TIPSS increases right-sided heart return and may precipitate CHF
- Hepatopulmonary Syndrome (see Hepatopulmonary Syndrome, Hepatopulmonary Syndrome): TIPSS may worsen hepatopulmonary syndrome
