Cabergoline (Dostinex, Cabaser)
Pharmacology
- These drugs are structurally similar (producing similar pulmonary toxicity)
- Bromocriptine (see Bromocriptine): used to treat Parkinson’s disease
- Cabergoline: used to treat Parkinson’s disease
- Methysergide (see Methysergide): previously used to treat vascular headaches
Adverse Effects
- Pleural Effusion (see Pleural Effusion-Exudate)
- Diagnosis
- CXR/Chest CT: pleural thickening
- Pleural Fluid: lymphocytosis
- Clinical: painless and rarely large
- Treatment: discontinue medication -> effusion resolves
